Neil Morris Cloud Table

Morris & Co of Glasgow

Sometimes known as the ‘Ameoboid’ after the name given by the designer, it has become more commonly known as the ‘Cloud table’ for obvious reasons. Designed by Neil Morris for Morris & Co, Glasgow in the mid-late 1940s, it exploits the design possibilities of plywood by combining the natural warmth of Honduras Mahogany against the lighter whiter wood of the Canadian Betula. The undulating curved bevelled edges expose the alternating layers of wood to create a piece that oscillates against the floor.
